In this short, interactive comic, a family escapes the unbearable summer heat in search of a cooler place where they can spend time together. However, the family members struggle to agree on what to do and how decisions should be made. To enjoy their vacation, they must learn to listen to one another, discuss their ideas on equal footing, and find a compromise. This mirrors the challenges of interdisciplinary research at HESCOR, where researchers from different backgrounds must remain open, respectful, and willing to engage in dialogue in order to make shared decisions and move their work forward.

To create this comic, we interviewed our researchers during the first year of the project to understand how they were adapting to interdisciplinary work. In fact, the colored speech bubbles are based on quotations from HESCOR researchers about HESCOR and their experiences of interdisciplinary collaboration.
