HESCOR members will convert key findings—ranging from coupled climate–culture models to paleoenvironmental case studies and data-management workflows—into Open Educational Resources (OER). These materials will be hosted on the University’s EduLabs ILIAS platform and shared via repositories such as OER Commons. By doing so, we aim to democratize access to cutting-edge research, foster interdisciplinary teaching, and support the UNESCO Education for Sustainable Development agenda (BNE 2030)
Why OER?
- Democratize Knowledge: OER allow no-cost access, reuse, and adaptation of high-quality educational materials worldwide .
- Promote Interdisciplinarity: Shared resources lower barriers between disciplines, supporting collaborative teaching and research across the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences .
- Align with SDG 2030: By embedding sustainability and cultural evolution themes, HESCOR’s OER directly support the UNESCO BNE 2030 framework for Education for Sustainable Development .
- Enhance Teaching Quality: Competency-based modules and evaluation instruments, developed and tested via practitioner feedback, equip educators and teacher-trainees to deliver robust, evidence-based instruction .
