Seminar: Interdisciplinary perspectives on Human and Earth system coupled research

Curious about how humans and the Earth interact in complex, dynamic systems? Explore cutting-edge research and modelling approaches from climate science, archaeology, mathematics, and the humanities – all in one seminar!

What you will learn:

  • gain a critical understanding of models in interdisciplinary research
  • get hands-on experience bridging conceptual, methodological, and data-related differences
  • tackle the challenge of simplifying complex human systems, including
    • generalised vs. context-specific models
    • combining quantitative and qualitative data

Credits

A total of 6 ECTS can be earned in the master’s degree programme:

  • Seminar (3 ECTS)
  • Project Work (3 ECTS)

Project Options

  • Option A: Implementation Project (apply your skills in modelling or computational tasks)
  • Option B: Interdisciplinary Essay (write an analytical essay on cross-disciplinary research question)
